Owen County Board of Zoning Appeals Approves Precision Gun Range Remain Open!!!

For those members, customers and friends of Precision Gun Range who are not current on the recent decisions pertaining to the Rifle Range, on June 18th the BZA finally agreed with what Precision Gun Range had been saying all along – that the Range’s facilities and operations are safe.

On June 10th, the board members, accompanied by County Attorney Jim Bryan and County Planning Director Jenny Osborne, visited the Rifle Range and conducted a thorough inspection of the facilities and operations.  The Range Staff was very impressed with the board’s thoroughness and concern to ensure all the agreed upon enhancements were completed and that the Range’s operations were safe.

At their June 18th  meeting, the BZA voted to have Precision Gun Range’s Rifle Range remain open for operations. We are very happy that this matter with the BZA has been settled and want to assure our members, customers and friends of our commitment to continue operations and to continually evaluate our procedures so all the shooters at Precision Gun Range have an enjoyable and safe shooting experience.  Come Shoot with Us Soon!!

To Our Valued Customers

First I want to thank all of our loyal customers for continuing to support us for the last year!  You are a amazing group of individuals.

A lot has been going on here at Precision Gun Range.  We finally got our final draft from the architect, so we can now get started building the stand alone baffle.  We are getting very close now to opening the rifle range back up. We are hoping to have everything done by May 31, 2018.  We will keep you updated as it could be sooner.

We have added a calendar to our website so you can now look to see what is going on at the range.  The staff can now put information you need to know underneath the News tab, this will be very helpful.

We have also added some new self-defense classes and Mass Shooter classes.  We have new USCCA Instructors on site as well as NRA Instructor.  A lot will be going on in the training area.  Watch the calendar for new classes.

Thank You again for all your support!!

Be Safe and Shoot Straight!!!

Dear Members and Supporters

Dear Members and Supporters,

While we had hoped that the January 11, 2018 meeting would have been the final one necessary to show the safety of our rifle range, sadly it wasn’t. We had a nationally known expert present and he wasn’t given the opportunity to fully share his analysis of our range. The board gave us a few weeks to prepare for a meeting to be held here at Precision Gun Range, and to share a presentation regarding the rifle range safety. That meeting will take place on Friday, February 2, 2018, at 3:00p.m. The members of the zoning board will be present, and our hope is that our supporters will be able to attend as well and show support.

Any of you who have used our range and know us, are well aware that safety on site, as well as the surrounding areas is of utmost importance to the owners and staff here. It will be a complete disservice to our community if we are unable to keep this range open. Having a safe environment to shoot and receive additional instruction is a vital need for all of those who support Second Amendment rights and freedoms. A safe range enables us all a place to work on our skills, which in turn makes our community safer. Having the range also cuts down on the number of backyard shooting that could result in injury to others. There are NO shortcuts on safety here.

We so much appreciate the supporters who were in attendance for the January zoning board meeting. I realize that the timing of 3 p.m. for the February 2nd meeting may present a conflict for some of you with your employment hours. However if you are able to be here to show your support, or send a representative in your stead, we would be more grateful than words can show.

Thank you so much. Be safe, and shoot straight.

Spencer Shooting Range Resuming Operations After Thorough Safety Review

Spencer, Indiana – Today, Precision Gun Range, LLC of Spencer issued a public statement that it will be resuming operations of its rifle range within the coming days. After certain property owners more than a half mile to the south of the range made allegations that projectiles found on their properties came from the range, Precision voluntarily suspended use of the rifle range earlier this year. While there was no proof that Precision’s rifle range was the source of projectiles in an area known for many types of shooting on private property, Precision retained a leading, national range safety expert to review the range’s design and safety and operational protocols. The expert made several recommendations for further safety enhancements, in light of the pending litigation against the range, all of which the range has now implemented. The expert’s report concludes that with the safety enhancements in place the range both meets industry standards and a very high level of safety with respect to persons and property off-range. As a courtesy, Precision has shared the safety report with the Owen County Zoning Board and the local sheriff and state police, and it has met with the sheriff to go over the report.

Precision Gun Range will be reopening the rifle range on December 1, 2017.

Thank You For Your Continued Support & Patience

Members and Friends,

We at Precision Gun Range would like to take this time to thank you for your continued support and patience.  As there is still a lot of chatter on social media in regards to our Range Facility, we would like to clarify a few items.  We voluntarily closed our Rifle Range on March 10, and it remains closed  for renovation.  We are taking this time to put in major enhancements that will improve the safety and overall shooting experience for our members and guests.  We hope to have all the work completed within the next 30 – 45 days.  The enhancements to our Range Facility will include improvements to the 100-yard Rifle Range, the addition of a  50-yard Pistol/Rifle Range, and updating our current 25-yard Pistol Range.  We will re-align our Trap House for our shotgun enthusiasts, as well as add a Shotgun Range alongside, for those who are not fans of Trap.
During this period of renovation, Our 25-yard Pistol Range Remains Open! Please check our website for class descriptions and dates, and come on by to shoot, anytime we’re open.  If you have questions, please call the range during normal business hours.
We appreciate your patience and patronage during this period and look forward to having all our facilities fully operational in the near future.
Your Precision Gun Range Staff
